Off we go...

On Monday 19 October we set off for our 3 ½ weeks’ training in Canada. We start by taking part in the Masters not far from Toronto (Mississauga), where all nine teams in the 2010 Olympics will be competing along with the five best Canadian teams (Howard, Martin, Koe, Gushue and Ferbey).

Next we continue to Calgary, where we will focus on more intensive training. Then we will take part in two further WCT tournaments, in Brooks and Red Deer.

You will find the appropriate links to these events on our homepage.

Canada – we’re on our way!

Yes, we can!

We’ve done it! About a thousand days ago we embarked on our ‘Vancouver 2010’ project. Following two Championship titles and two fourth places at the World Championships we came out on top with 4:1 victories in the ‘Best of 7’ trials against the strong (extremely strong) team from St. Moritz (Karnusian). At the end of the first day we were leading 2:0. Then, on the Tuesday morning, the St. Moritz team crept up to 2:1. In the fourth – and critically important – game we managed, after trailing by three points, to achieve a very strong second half, during which we were able to turn the game to our advantage. Our fifth game then proved to be the last. Despite a great deal of nervous tension, we played one of our very best games and managed to stay on top throughout, except in the fourth end. Thanks to a take-out, Ralph lifted the psychological burden from our shoulders and assured us our place in the European Championships in Aberdeen and pre-selection for Vancouver 2010. We have nothing but praise for the organizers of CRB and for the ice crew who ensured perfect and very fair conditions.

On the very next Monday we were off to Canada for three weeks to take part in three top tournaments. As soon as we know our programme we will post the appropriate links on this website.
