Defeat in the final of the WCT-E tournament in Prague
me. While Ralph conscientiously fulfilled his duties as trainer of the Swiss Juniors in Biel, we played the WCT-E tournament in Prague together with Florian Meister of Lucerne
With the following line-up: lead Simon, 2nd Florian, 3rd + skip Markus and 4th Jan Hauser, we reached the quarter final with 3 wins (Sorum NOR, Schille CAN, Vojtus CZ) and 2 defeats (Pescia SUI, Ulsrud NOR).
There we once again came up against Ulsrud (NOR). This time, we were successful in avenging our defeat in the preliminary rounds and qualified for the semi-final against (NOR). This one-sided game came to an early end and propelled us into the final. There we faced another duel against the Canadians, who had gone from strength to strength throughout the tournament.
The game (10 ends) was transmitted live on Czech television. Alas,. We were not able to follow on from our morning’s achievements and just could not settle into the game. This meant that we lost the third WCT-E final of the season, ending the tournament in second place.
Looking back, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Florian Meister, who did a brilliant job.
We are now looking forward to the final round of the Swiss Championships in Berne from 14 – 21 February.
