23.10.2008 Two victories on day one
In the morning we just manage to beat St. Gallen Bär. In our game against Schwaller it was also the very last stone (double takeout) that brought victory.
Tomorrow, at 8.30 in the morning, we’ll be up against the hitherto unbeaten team from St. Moritz.

20.10.2008 Basel repeats itself in Bern
me. At our third WCT-E tournament of the season we found ourselves qualified for the final for the second time. This time the final was against Germany (Andy Kapp) and the result mirrored that in Basel. After having led 4:2 we nonetheless ended up by being narrowly defeated. This defeat was our second in series in Bern since we had lost there against Canada (Howard) last year.
Having won 4 matches in succession - against Italy (Retornaz), Sweden (Kraupp), Scotland (Murdoch) and Canada (Howard) - we immediately qualified for the quarter final on the Sunday. We clearly set the running in the match against Canada (Young) and secured victory after six ends. Then, in the semi-final we came up against Baden Regio (Schwaller) and, after a hard-fought battle, managed to come out on top.
Of course we would have liked to have continued this winning streak to become the outright winners, but after six victories in a row we met our match in the team lead by Andy Kapp. The very tricky ice and stone conditions accounted for numerous bad stones on both sides and (as had also been the case in Basel two weeks earlier) we just failed to pull off a victory.
Warmest congratulations to Andy Kapp and his crew. The two third places of Andi Schwaller and Björn Zryd, meant that two other local teams led the rankings above a very strong field of visitors from abroad. Link to Bern Open
Our thanks go to the organising committee in Bern, which once again made the tournament such a special occasion for all the contestants.
Thursday will see us on the ice again, when the qualifying matches for the European Championships are held in Wallisellen.
